Ojibwe.net has partnered with the Center for Water Policy in the School of Freshwater Sciences and the Electa Quinney Institute for American Indian Education at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee to tell the story of the Great Lakes Watershed by presenting new perspectives of time, place and culture. Our interactive maps will allow visitors to begin understanding their own connections to the Watershed as well as help tribal nations understand their potential for coalition building and policy making.
We will share our process for how we reached out to 160 Anishinaabe nations and worked with over 200 students in Ojibwe Language and American History classes during the development of the Storytelling Map. We will also share some of the challenges we faced and our future plans for the project.
