In this workshop, we will explore several advanced project management and mapping tools offered by SIKU: the Indigenous Knowledge Social Network. SIKU is a web and mobile platform, helping Indigenous communities to lead their own research and monitoring programs using their own knowledge systems. We will learn how to create a SIKU project and explore options for post privacy, stewardship, as well as the project management framework and dashboard. These tools are created within a safe space that respects full data ownership, access and privacy. With a GPS, satellite map layers, custom map products, and easy ways to document observations on the land when away from internet, SIKU maps help empower communities to share and access data. Come see our custom and downloadable SIKU Basemap with bathymetry, topography, and Indigenous territories from NativeLands; view optical and radar satellite imagery on your phone; and learn about our custom Ice Map that shows Ice Posts from hundreds of SIKU users!
