In this session we will introduce the main features of Mapeo Desktop, a free and open-source application for creating, editing and organising GIS data, including data collected with Mapeo Mobile. It was co-developed with input from indigenous communities around the world, and is built for teams who want to collaborate and share information, and who want simple, free and accessible solutions for mapping and monitoring. Mapeo Desktop also allows users to visualize and explore geographic data and photos, to filter information by date, category etc. and to create reports of mapping or monitoring data to share externally. It works entirely offline, and allows users to maintain control and management of all data without depending on external experts, expensive programmes or online databases. Data can be imported into Mapeo from Mapeo Mobile, or as a GPX file from a GPS, and the data can be exported to geojson or csv format for use in other applications or as a webmap.
