Since #2020IMW was originally intended to be in Saskatchewan, we still wish to honour and acknowledge Saskatcwan First Nations and amplify their voices throughout the workshop, starting with a welcoming address from the Chief of Star Blanket Cree Nation. Star Blanket Cree Nation is a First Nations government, under Treaty Four, located near Balcarres, Saskatchewan. Star Blanket Cree Nation is named after Chief Ahchacoosacootacoopetis (acâhkosa kâ-otakohpit, “one who has stars for a blanket”), who assumed the position in 1875.
